Market Report 19th March
March 19 2009Another busy flower market today with a large variety of great quality products for sale. The main theme for the day was Oriental lillies, tulips and the beautiful gladdies. We have managed to do a deal with our suppliers and have bought large numbers of each of these and are featuring these lines on our television ad next week. The gladdies are buy 1 get 1 free for just $12.00 starting from today. These will not disappoint. The tulips next week are great value at $9.99 per bunch in a huge range of colours.
The oriental lillies are still great value at $16.99 per bunch or 2 for $25.00 until the end of this week.
In the natives this week, the white proteas have been a stand out, along with the tetragonna gum foliage.
The tropicals are again brilliant quality. The birds of paradise purchased today were great value, along with some beautiful red ‘crab claws’. If tropicals are your taste, these will impress.
From the farm, the lissianthus continues to be a stand out. The shelf life is in excess of 2 weeks, and the colours are superb.
Also from the farm, the quality of the carnations is unbeatable. With the colder nights, the head size and colour intensity increases dramatically, as does the vase life. The NEW Green Trick has also been a hit throughout Australia, with large orders coming through from Queensland, where the long shelf life and vibrant colour being crucial in the warm environment.
And finally the flower show is coming up in a couple of weeks, where the local produce from Ballarat Carnations will be on full display, so if you can spare the time make sure you make the trip to Melbourne to experience the flowers in full bloom.
