Market Specials Thursday 4th June

June 5 2009

The first official market for winter didn’t reflect the actual season with recent mild weather ensuring a good volume and quality of product in the market today.  We are bringing Lissianthus in from Queensland at the moment.  The Victorian product is not up to scratch.  The Queensland season is in full production and the quality is excellent.

Goldenvale nursery in New south wales sent us some magnificent Birds of Paradise today.  The flowers have to be opened manually and if kept moist will give an excellent bright orange disply for 7-14 days.

Violets and Stocks are coming into their prime as winter sets in.  Remember Violets do 90% of their drinking thru the flowers and leaves not the stems so it is important for long vase life to turn the bunches upsode down and submerge them in water for 30mins per day.  This will ensure the maximum life out of these pretty little posies.

Other flowers that are of great quality at the moment are Tulips, Fresias and ornamental kale.

So as always the team at stems are willing to help you as much as they can in your flower purchasing experience.  So please drop in or give us a call.
