Market Report 2/7/09
July 2 2009The cold weather continues to play havoc with production in Victoria, with numbers being down once again, with recent frosts taking their toll on some of the field crops around the region. This morning we were able to get some nice deep pink oriental lillies from a grower in Torquay, along with his very popular Triumphadore lilies, which open up magnificently and have a great vase life.
The seasonal lines such as the tulips, daffodils, jonquils etc are now in full swing along with some beautiful iris available in deep blue and the yellow. The potted tulips are also of beautiful quality, and are a great gift for only $18.00. These should last in excess of 4 weeks, and can be put in a suitable spot in the garden for flowering next year…
From the farm, the cold spell has kept our numbers down, however the quality is exceptional. The carnations are currently getting in excess of 2 weeks vase life, as is the alstromeria.
We were also able to get a great range of imported 40cm roses. The colours are very eye catching when you enter the coolroom, so we have decided to make them our ‘bunch of the week’ at $15 or 2 for $20.00.
We currently have a vase sale on in store, so drop in to see what is on offer. There are many different shapes and sizes – something to suit everyone.., and also please note our new ‘baby’ range has arrived in store. No tacky teddys in store – only the funky ones are allowed, so either check out the link on the web site or come on down and take a look.
