Ballarat Flower market and Florist update
October 2 2008We had the usual early start for market today. First at market we dropped off our Ballarat grown carnations bound for Sydney market. Then it was off to the buyers floor to see what arrived in market for sale. Supply was very strong with Spring continuing to provide large volumes of flowers in certain lines.
We collected the first pick of the white Warratah stems which are an off white colour. They are extremely showy at 80-90cm tall.
Morgan from Iona farms our Alstromeria grower has one hot house where he grows Birds of Paradise. I think they must feed them super steriods. He had a handful of bunches for us and my god! They are the biggest and best quality Birds I have ever seen. Be sure to be quick on these as they will not last long in store at all.
Morgan also had a special on his Alstromeria for us so we can promote the new colours and varieties that are now available. Extra large bunches are at the low price of $8 a bunch and you also receive a second bunch free!!!! Alstromeria is an excellent long lasting choice for a vase of fresh flowers. They are great on their own or can be mixed with other favourites.
At our Ballarat farm we have a new supply of Pink long stemmed Sim carnations and we are putting these on special this week at the low price of $8 per bunch and you will also receive a second bunch free!!! This is exceptional value and stock is limited so be sure to be quick.
Finally we sourced a number of treats for our florists to engage their creative side including Orange Cliiva stems, Spanish Iris foliage and Extra tall Orange cordifolia bunches.
Overall and excellent week at market. So be sure to drop into our Mair street store and have a look at our full range of fresh blooms.
