Market Specials Thursday 22nd January

January 23 2009

The market is starting to get back to full swing as most growers have returned from their holidays if they had one.

Local Ballarat carnations represent exceptional value this week at only $5.99 per bunch Summer quality is excellent and a full range of colours are available.  Our own Ballarat grown carnations are nationally renowned for their excellent vase life.  A solid 2-3 weeks can be expected form these timeless classics.

The guys from Blue lotus water garden in Yarra junction bought their range of lotus flowers and water lilies into the market for the first time.  Their lotus flowers are simply exquisite and are not usually available to the cut flower market.  We picked up some pink and some white lotus flowers which have a stem of 70cm.  The buds are unlikely to open but can be enjoyed for their stunning different look in a vase on their own or in an arrangement.

For something different this week why not give some Echinops or Rudbeckia a go. Echinops are a bluey grey foliage with a blue furry golf ball like head.  They will give a modern feel to any flower display.  Rudbeckia is similar however is characterised by its copper brown stem and flower colour.

The end of the local season of Birds of paradise has ended and we are know waiting for supplies from NSW which should commence in 2-3 weeks.

So our cooler is yet again stocked with the widest range of flowers and foliage possible.  So please give us a call or drop in and enjoy what nature has provided us with.
