Market Report Thursday Feb 26th 2009
February 26 2009Our Ballarat grown Green trick was launched in store today. The first customer to buy this world award winning flower was Kate and her son James and to reward her for this special milestone for us we gave her the bunch for free!! Green trick is a green golf ball like flower that has a stunning bright and unique furry aappearance It has an excellent vase life of 2-3 weeks. Ballarat carnations our parent farm is one of only two Australian growers currently growing Green Trick and we are very excited that we were able to retail the first bunch of cut flowers in Australia!
Also locally grown at our Ballarat farm is our current range of Lissianthus. Available for only $9.99 or 3 for $20. This is excellent pricing and is below wholesale prices for some areas of Australia. Our Lissianthus are of exceptional quality because we grow it ourselves, we pick it fresh and only have to drive 7kms from our farm to the shop (great carbon footprint!!!) which also means it doesn’t suffer from any damage from transport. We are very proud of the excellent quality the farm has produced. Our Lissianthus has a vase life of 10-20 days which again is very very good for this product. So please grab a bunch and experience this for yourself, we are sure you will not be disappointed.
Locally grown potted Begonias are providing an excellent choice for potted gifts but are not alone with potted gerberas, cyclamens and Bromeliads making the choice difficult in this area.
Overall product availablilty is a little limited with open grown field products struggling to make the quality standard due to the recent heatwave and windy conditions. However the green house grown products are of excellent quality as they have been protected from these extremes.
On a final note as I’m sure everyone is aware that this week is national organ awareness week. We have some information in store for you to grab and have a look at as you consider this very worthy registry.
