Market Report Thursday 2nd April
April 3 2009With Easter almost upon us, the market this week was abundant with Easter Daisy. The weather has been kind for this field grown crop, so the quality is good this year. We have had the purple Easter Daisy now for a couple of weeks, but the white has only just begun, so we are now have the white in our cool room for sale at $9.00 per bunch.
Red roses were also everywhere in the market – as a result of the intense picking from Valentines, the Roses are now flushing back with their next crop in large numbers. The adrenalin Roses in bunches of 12 offer great value and a beautiful gift.
We have managed to do a deal with our Gerbera grower this week, so this weeks ‘bunch of the week’ is Gerberas. Buncha, who grow our gerberas have cut their prices to us for the week, so we are offering them at $9.99 per bunch or 3 for $20.00. For an instant splash of colour through the house this deal is unbeatable.
This week is the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show at the Exhibition Building in Melbourne. We went for a look on Wednesday, and were very excited to see the produce from the Farm in many of the arrangements. Our new ‘Green Trick’ was used with outstanding effect in this years inter flora display, which has effectively launched this brand new product to the Australian Market. The Moon range of carnations, along with the Green carnations were very popular also, with florists very keen to use these striking colours. These products are all grown locally and exclusive to our Ballarat Farm. This means that our customers at Stems are first in line for new products and varieties.
If you can, try to get into the flower show which is open until Sunday, and keep your eye out for the Ballarat grown produce.
