Market Report Thursday 1st October

October 1 2009

Spring flowers are now in there prime suply in terms of both quality and quantity.  Our hmoe grown Rannunculis continue to be a stand out performer and provide excellent vase life of 7-14 days.

On the native front October is all about Warratahs.  These absolutly magnificent large Red and the harder to get white stems come in a range of lenghts.  Currently our stock is extra large 70-90cm stem lenght stock.  Warratahs have a thick woody stem and it is difficult for water to travel up the stem if the bottom has a clean cut on it.  So it is therefor nessecary to squash the end of the stem.  This can be done by smashinf the bottom of the stem with a hammer.  This increases the area for water to travel to the flower and will ensure they last longer.  A vase with 3 stems in it is simply unbeatable around the house.

Iris has continued in strong supply as it has for most of the year.  However we have some hard to get white iris in stock and also the deep purple “acapuco” iris as well.  Both these varieties are hard to get and are stunning in any of your flower requirements.

The daffodil season has now ended so we will have to wait until next June for their return!!!

Again the stroe is filled with a huge range of quality flowers so please give us a call or drop in and let us help you with your next puchasing requirement.
